AWARE – Fish ID Course
AWARE – Fish Identification Diver
AWARE – Fish ID Specialty
Are you frustrated when you cannot identify the fishes you see during your dives? Then this is the Specialty course for you!
The AWARE – Fish Identification Specialty introduces divers to the most common families and species of fish found in tropical waters. Divers learn basic fish identification and scientific surveying techniques. In the future, divers take this knowledge to new sites so that they can identify the same and/or related species.
During the course you will study:
- The Project AWARE philosophy about protecting worldwide aquatic ecosystems
- Fish family groups and common characteristics of fish species found in the local area
- Fish surveying techniques and strategies for collecting valid data
- The planning, organisation and procedures for identifying fish families and species while diving.
